This is our Woodworking Process
At Fleming Woodworking and Design, we take great pride in what we create. Crafted primarily using both natural, locally sourced, and reclaimed materials, our handmade products are guaranteed to not only be excellent conversation starters, but a unique way to display your personality as well.
In order to get the results that you deserve, we go through a simple yet thorough process which includes a simple consultation in order to ensure that you get the product that you deserve.
This discussion will involve the creation of blueprints to create the perfect piece of furniture for you.
After a few days in the workshop, we will be more than happy to be hand delivering to you a one of a kind piece of woodworking art that you will be sure to enjoy.
The Process for our Furniture
To begin the process, our mission is to start searching for the perfect piece of wood. We have accumulated a large stock over the past few years, which contains various amounts of unique pieces that are individually shaped, and have stunning grains. Most of our wood slabs are locally acquired from around our home base here in Tifton; however, if desired, there is also the option of using slabs of domestic and exotic species that are imported from around the globe. We use only the highest quality of hardwoods and materials in our woodworking projects, and believe only in perfection. Many of these pieces are available for you to personally pick and chose from, so that your custom order will be tailored specifically to your taste.
After your wood is chosen, we discuss measurements, which include the length, width, and height of the furniture that you desire.
Then, if desired, we discuss the stain and epoxy resin. This part of the process is where we (DESCRIBE PROCESS HERE). Every piece of furniture is unique, so this process will vary depending on your order. we are sure to only use inert and non toxic materials, so your safety is a guarantee.
Next, our mission is to take our conceptualized design into the shop. Measurements are made and triple checked to ensure perfection. Our furniture is typically built from the bottom up; so either the legs or the base must be fashioned first to establish integral structural support. Soon after, the wood is carefully sanded down, and (DESCRIBE PROCESS HERE).
Lastly, to ensure that our product is of the highest of standards, we layer a protective coat of mineral oil, beeswax, and carnauba wax to ensure that your furniture is water resistant, as well as to help rejuvenate the wood and prevent drying.
Then, your new piece of furniture will be hand delivered to you!
The Process for our Woodburning
First and foremost, our goal is to once again find the perfect piece of wood to suit your needs. Naturally shaped discs with the bark still visible, a simple wooden block - the choice is yours!
For , an image or design must be chosen to be burned into the wood. This can be anything you desire; options are limitless.
Often, we find it necessary to occasionally run the selected design through photoshop in order to emphasize both the lowlights and highlights of the image chosen, so that the final product is of the utmost quality.
Finally, we get to work. (DESCRIBE PROCESS HERE) We test the design multiple times on a piece of scrap material to ensure absolute perfection for your design.
At this point, we may also add brackets to your wood-burnt piece so that it may easily be displayed on the wall or in other locations. Or perhaps, the design may be used to create a focal point on a furniture item. If desired, we will hand paint the design for you, or leave it as is so that you can either embrace the natural beauty of the wood-burnt image, or color it in on your own.
To complete the process, we once again layer a protective coat of natural oils and wax to prevent potential drying/water damage, and to make the natural grains of the wood stand out.
Then; your new work of art will either be hand delivered or shipped to you!
